About The Project
How Does Literacy Click for You?
Literacy Clicks is a photo contest open to all residents of Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin. Submit a photograph you’ve taken of something from everyday life that represents how Literacy impacts your life. It can be anything: home, work, community activities, people you know, random tasks...
The 1st place winner for each contest category will receive $300. We encourage creativity and will award prizes in 2 different categories.
- Literacy Working for You
- Literacy Connecting You
Literacy is an important issue that affects each one of us. From the moment we wake up and look at the clock, our quick trips to the grocery store, our daily work routine, using directions to cook dinner, and surfing the internet, literacy helps us achieve important tasks every day of our lives (Literacy Working for You). As a community, communication is the key to sharing, connecting and reaching out to everyone around us. Literacy is the building block for all levels of communication and it is through communication that people can be brought closer together (Literacy Connecting You).
4 in 10 of us struggle with daily tasks involving Literacy. By raising awareness, we are promoting the fact that literacy is a topic that is relevant to an entire community and should be celebrated every day. Free local programs are available to all.
Literacy is the first step in breaking down walls and connecting with those around us; show us how literacy ‘clicks’ for you.
